Title: Activities for Preschoolers
Time: 2:15 PM

Website:
http://funschool.kaboose.com/preschool/games/game_fishin_mission.html?trnstl=1Fishin' Mission
This activity can be used by the preschool teachers, as it teaches the children how to count. As the children continously play the game and complete each level, they will learn how to count the numbers in sequence and as each level becomes harder, they will face the challenge of counting and differentiating the different colours of the fishes as they are required to catch the specific numbers of fishes. They will also learn that they need to be more cautious each time when the level of difficulty increase, as the number of fishes becomes more. Through this activity, they will learn number sense, and they will learn how to classify the fishes according to the colours.
Website: http://www.sesameworkshop.org/sesamestreet/games/flash.php?contentId=110740&&solution=school
This activity teaches children about classification skills which is a math concept. There are items for the children to choose from and each time, they are suppose to classify the items into 2 categories like objects that is blue in colour and objects that is orange in colour. They are able to observe each object and classify them into the same category. When the children got it wrong for a few times, there will be clue for them to help them to place into the right category. This allows the children to learn the characteristic of the items and group them in the same group. At the same time, let them to try an error to match the correct one. Children will know that it is alright to get it wrong and try until they get it right. The game continues after each correct round and different categories are given in the instruction. Children are interested in the cartoon character thus they will have the patient to keep trying and trying. There is also positive reinforcement each time when the child gets it right.
This activity can be implemented after I have taught them the concept of classification. Children are able to try out the different categories and learn about the different characteristics of the different item. This will help the children to brush up their skills in grouping items too. Each time there is a new category, I can use this chance to teach them more using the theme itself. Thus, this activity allows the children to learn independently and learn to make mistake. Children will then learn from the mistake and get it correct. They will then understand the way to group items.

http://teacher.scholastic.com/clifford1/flash/concentration/index.htmName of game: Concentration. This game on scholastic's website is one that asks children to concentrate and remember the pictures and the phonetcis of the words that matches the pictures. In a way, it is an educational version of the game, memory. Not only does it helps improve children's concentration skill, teachers can use this as a tool to teach and reinforce new vocabulary as well as expose children to the correct pronunciation. It also allows children to slowly have an acute sense of hearing and be more sensitive to words that sound the same, like in rhymes for example.

Title: Webtools and their potentials
Time: 11:38 AM
In our society where pretty much everything in control by one of human
kind's best creation, the computer, it is not much of a surprise how much computers are part of a student's everyday life in school as they make lessons interesting and engaging. Today, we are exploring on how two such web tools can help an early childhood educator liven up his or her classroom.
First up, we have instructional videos from the website
VideoJug http://www.videojug.com/This site is one that is chocked full with countless videos on any topic under the sun. Instructional videos like these are short and sweet therefore catering to the children's short attention spans, as well as provide preschool teachers with a new medium for teaching. They can source for topics that they observe the children to be interested in and use the videos as part of their lessons. The plus point of it all is that the demonstration and instructions are already given by the person in the video, in turn easing the teacher's planning and implementing of his or her lessons. Furthermore, an early childhood educator can use this web page to advance himself or herself
professionally by looking for videos on child development and related topics to their field.
The second
web tool are forum threads found on the web. An early childhood educator will probably find that this website provided is one that is rather useful for them.
http://www.ncb.org.uk/Page.asp?sve=819This early childhood education forum provides a place for teachers to learn knowledge from others and apply it in their classrooms. They can have debates with others in the profession on topics that concern them and draw conclusions from the differing opinions. It also provides consultation on effective teaching of which preschool teachers can utilise and learn from. Finally, they can discuss with other professionals means and ways of how they can improvise on their curriculum standards and ensure the learning outcomes of the children.
Comparing the two, one can say that Instructional Videos provides more information and visible directions for the teachers to learn more effectively and be able to teach the children in the correct way to do some things while Forum provides more verbal instructions and discussion for the teachers to have the correct way to solve things or learn the right way of the disciplinary actions. One cannot say that the Instructional Videos outweigh the Forum in terms of it's uses as both cater to the two different essential needs of a preschool teacher, which are classroom lesson help and professional growth. Thus it is safe to say that these two go hand in hand to benefit a teacher and his or her students in an holistic manner.
